Clax is pretty much what this Lakers team needs on both sides of the floor in a big. Value they are giving up in this trade is slightly more than the Mark Williams deal, which makes sense as Nic is a much more proven player. Even if they have to overpay a bit, I think a legit defensive anchor and rim-runner in this lineup would be worth that.
Brooklyn may or may not trade Claxton at the end of the day, but Knecht is a good asset who would slot in well next to their other young guys. An unprotected first and two swaps on top of that makes this a solid return. A lot of this depends on how much the Nets value Knecht and what Nic's value is around the league, but I couldn't see it being much more than what is offered here.
