Bucks co-owner recently said in an interview that this summer either Giannis will be extended, or if an extension isn’t met, he will be traded. Realistically… I think an extension will be agreed upon. But let’s try and look at realistic options of trade destinations. Places like the Knicks, Cavs, and Heat are popular destinations, but none have the picks needed to land him. The Warriors are in a similar position. They have some picks to go get Giannis, but they don’t have the player assets to get Giannis because I don’t see the Bucks wanting Butler. Hawks (to me) don’t make sense because they are building around Johnson and the Timberwolves don’t make sense either because of money issues and picks. Spurs and Thunder have the picks and player assets, but I doubt would want to break up their young cores since they’re at the top of the West. Ultimately (if an extension isn’t met) I do think the Bucks will send Giannis to somewhere he wants to be in a market he wants to be in. Teams like Brooklyn, Toronto, Portland, and Chicago make the most sense to me as destinations that works for all sides. But again, ultimately I think an extension is met.
