Wow big trade very interesting, I want to say that we do not know what second are moved yet so i've added some random ones. we do know these picks go up to 2032 which Fanspo has no picks for. For some money manoeuvring purposes we COULD see a 3rd team added, I expect this will not add or change the grades otherwise we would know about it by now. But for now this is a similar trade to what will be official. There was a few little bits of info on how this trade was close this morning so not surprised this happened now, we are only 3 days from the draft as of today so I do expect a lot of trades to come fast and furious in time for the draft so. What I find interesting is what comes next specifically for the suns, Dillon brooks makes sense fitting in that roster but i'm very interested to see how Jalen Green theoretically makes sense in Phoenix's system especially if Beal is around. I do think they can still move Beal if he wants to go but I don't see how Beal, Green Booker works together. Now pick wise they have to go double big, looking at a 4 and a 5 since the team is just soo short in Phoenix. Anyway let's do the grades.
Trade Grade Explanation: https://fanspo.com/nba/s/general/p/epTyDdsSXUgNRK/my-trade-grade-rankings-explained
Houston: A-
I was a big skeptic in how a Kevin Durant to Houston trade could go down, I thought it wasn't smart on there part to look into him with control of their picks but I feel like its crazy for me to say this is bad when they kept all of their picks and moved only 1 young key piece who I think wasn't the key to their success and generally Kevin Durant has a much better effect as a ceiling raiser (of course) which I think they both are so Im not mad over that, the 10th pick personally felt like a necessity to be moved in my opinion so Im fine with that and then Dillon Brooks I think is a very great role-player for Houston just an aggressive player that fit their culture and although he does some cringy stuff and gets clowned on I think he's going to be missed but the general gain, the star player gain who is able to take a team to a championship when at the peak of his powers although old and maybe the timeline doesn't make sense which was my point I think it's okay since they keep so many young assets that if KD retired in a few years they have 3 years at least probably of competitiveness and then a bunch if talent which has aged and improved and learnt and gained experience from playoff basketball and learning from KD as a vet. KD gotta be taking Jabari Smith Jr under his wing. so generally do I have some questions over whether KD actually is the greatest fit with the team? sure I do Im still skeptical over this timeline stuff, i'm not sure KD is a championship leader anymore that the will have to be unless we see Amen Thompson or Sengun snatch that from him but he is someone that will put them at the top of the west while he's there but the price of the trade tells me they can still be successfully post the KD era so yeah I like this.
Phoenix: C+
I just continue to have question with the general Phoenix direction but I will say that moving KD off your team was the right thing to do it is the right direction they are heading in to get younger and I like getting Brooks so I think this a positivefor Phoenix for sure, I think they did a decent job with the assets they had so I can handle this for them, I definitely wanna do some mock offseason stuff and look at some other interesting ideas for phoenix this offseason post this trade. I have a feeling they keep both Brooks and Green, Pick 10 is going to return some great value in my opinion. An underrated part of they trade people will miss Is adding 5 second round picks, although a first is just going to be more valuable in general in Phoenix's situation they have little picks and assets to use so having 5 young players being added till 2032 and all these being able to be moved seperately just makes a tonne of sense situationally for them. But yes it's disappointing they couldn't Get one of those picks back but again something I said for a while now is they just have not got the high ground, everyone knows he's out the door and KD cuts down where he could go to three teams so Im fine with what they did and it makes sense.
Maybe my feeling on this trade changes, in case I will update in the comments!
