Note that this trade will be performed at the deadline, so that Melton is available to trade.

Dallas Mavericks Reasoning: How Melton would fit into the rotation: De’Anthony would go into the Mavs rotation as the 7th man behind Dereck Lively, assuming Gafford is playing ahead of him. Melton would get around 25 to 28 minutes a night. providing the Mavs with someone to replace Kyrie or Luka when they are on the bench, Melton also would provide the Mavs with some very needed perimeter defence after they lost Derrick Jones Jr to the clippers this off-season.

Why the Mavs would do it:Melton would provide the Mavs with someone to replace Kyrie or Luka when they are on the bench, Melton also would provide the Mavs with some very needed perimeter defence after they lost Derrick Jones Jr to the clippers this off-season.

De’Anthony Melton would go on to average 14-3-5 with 1.6 steals for Dallas going forward.

Golden State Warriors Reasoning: How Kleber would fit into the rotation: Kleber on the Warriors would be an end of rotation player as the Warriors 13th man behind Moses Moody and would get very little to no minutes a game.

Why the Warriors would do this: As we all know the Warriors have one of the deepest teams in the league with 13 playable players in the rotation, and Melton probably won’t get many minutes. It would be far better to offload Melton to Dallas while he still has some trade value instead of holding onto an angry player that gets not many minutes and ruins the team chemistry going into playoff time, and then loosing him in free agency for nothing the next year.

Warriors plans with Kleber going forward: in the off-season the Warriors would try to trade him to a team like the Pistons for a couple of seconds, if not they can waive him or just let him play one more year for them and let him walk in free agency.
