From face value, this is an absolute steal for Houston. They keep all of their prospects outside of Green, who was likely to be moved anyway, and they keep all of their first rounders besides this year’s pick. That means they still have the unprotected pick in 2027 from Phoenix along with numerous other first rounders. This years pick probably wouldn’t have played anyway and now they have there number one option to go win a title right now, while still being able to win in the future with this young core and future picks. KD elevates this team’s ceiling immediately to title contenders and they could definitely beat OKC. They keep Reed, Eason, Jabari, Thompson, heck even Cam Whitmore too. An unbelievable steal for Houston as they now are among the favorites to win the NBA title next season.

This is all they could get??? They got ONE first round pick?? I mean Green is solid but his fit with Booker is iffy at best. I guess this allows them to contend for the playoffs?? But how is this team gonna contend more than the team with Durant?? The seconds are fine I guess but they could’ve at least gotten their 2027 pick back and maybe a prospect too like Reed or Jabari to build around. Brooks and Green can help them win now but this move downgrades their roster and at best slightly ups their future when they could’ve put themselves in a position for a quick rebuild and get their picks back.
