A lot of people assume it’s a forgone conclusion that Lavine picks up his option. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. Rich Paul, his agent, has been talking to teams about interest and approximately how much his next contract could be worth. Lavine and Paul know he’s not doing anything on the Kings and that Lavine’s trade value isn’t great. I could see Lavine declining it and signing like a 2-3 year deal approximately 15-22 mil per year with a team such as the Pistons or another team that can compete. So let’s now assume Lavine declines his option. I say at that point… buy out DeRozan. His play is still good for his age, but he’s never been a good fit in terms of play style. Also in this situation for the draft, I think their dream target should be Peterson. Due to most likely lottery outcomes I think they will get either Acuff or Flemings, but Peterson should be their first priority. And with that throw a bag at Reaves. I think their forward position are set. I think Hunter will have a bounce back season if he can stay healthy and they’ve already got Murray locked into an extension.
