Look, I know this seems crazy, but just hear me out. The Suns just made it all the way to the finals and almost won against the two time MVP: Giannis Antetokounmpo. But he was just too dominant. But even with Giannis playing that well in the finals, your typical finals opponent is better then that. If KD just had one of Kyrie or James Harden that entire series against the Bucks, they would've dominated. And even without those guys, KD alone was about one shoe size away from beating the Bucks. No discredit to the Suns, but how many people have them making it to the finals again this year? Probably everybody but Suns fans. And they won't do this move because they just resigned Chris Paul, but it makes since for them and the Warriors. For the Suns, they are getting worse in this move, but they're raising their ceiling. They're bringing in young talent that will continue developing for a long time, where if they kept Paul, he'd probably regress every year, making the Suns a worse team like this move would do, but they wouldn't get anything out of it. And even though they are getting worse in this move, they'll still be a playoff team. Sure they won't be at the top of the West, and they won't get homeport advantage, but does that even matter if you're just going to lose the Lakers or lose to the Clippers regardless? And then for the Warriors, they're forming the most skilled backcourt in the NBA, with Chris Paul and Steph Curry. Sure the defense could struggle with them playing together, but that's a sacrifice that I'd be willing to make. Imagine Chris Paul, one of the best decision makers in the NBA is running a pick and roll with James Wiseman, a very athletic big man. Paul, one of the best mid range shooters in the league could pull up for an easy mid range jumpshot, he could throw a lob to Wiseman, or he could give it to Steph Curry or Klay Thompson, too of the best shooters of all time. And you still have young talent, with Wiseman, Poole, Shamet, and basically all of your draft picks except the one this upcoming season.
