The nets make this trade because it will give them an extra expiring contract next offseason and they also obtain some seconds and get a heavily protected pick

The raptors do this to get a real versatile defensive center and someone who can bolster the bench and play if needed they also don’t have the worry of giving up a good first or any significant long term pieces
