The Wizards are just trying to get draft capital and move on from Kuzma who isn’t really a part of their future and he’s also not helping any of their young guys develop.
The Nets do it to try to get more competitive while they don’t possess their own first round picks (which is for the next four year) by the time the Nets “have to pay” Kuzma or Bridges or Cam Johnson or whoever they’ll have their picks back so they’d have no problem letting them walk or sign and trade them. I felt like it was pretty clear this year that the Nets needed another consistent scorer and more front court depth. Kuzma would be easily the second best maybe even best scorer on this team depending on the development of Cam Thomas. Although Bagley isn’t as good as the Kings hoped when they drafted him second overall, he is a solid big man who can give them 15-20 minutes a night behind Claxton and Sharpe. Hopefully Noah Clowney can develop into a nice 3&D guy as well.
