This is such an interesting trade that makes me really doubt either my own evaluation skills or GMs because how does Jusuf Nurkic have positive value or even more value than Sexton or in the other way round how is Sexton more of a negative asset compared to Nurkic. I cant believe that....
What is suppose happened is Charlotte being a newly competent organisation probably used the Jazz over abundance of Guards and especially 2 guards to their advantage and was able to negotiate a cost that effectively looks like the Jazz dumped him since they negotiated it into a clearing space trade by the Jazz from a buying on Sexton. And the Jazz did the right thing trying to sell Sexton and get value to clear space but they caught on it and I suppose had no demand from her teams for better offers which is surprising to me. Great trade by the Hornets and their new front office who over the past two seasons have made me big fans. Anyway I have eluded to my opinion so let me just grade this already.

Hornets: B
Kind of the perfect description of a B trade, basically no flaws, do the Hornets potentially have an abundance at guard now? Yes they do but there's no guarantee now Tre Mann is back without that qualifying, Sexton gives you consistent game time and Health and thats what the Hornets kind of need as they seem to be gearing to be semi competitive in my mind next season. you get rid of an expensive and regressing Jusuf Nurkic who might not be in the NBA after his next contract and you get a young backup for Lamelo, I love this for them and its just perfect. Does the center whole look huge? absolutely but you have to have a good FA to solve that issue, that guard rotation is very good. Im assuming they have a lot of belief in Kalkbrenner, I think there's a lot to like but he is slow and has to pay inside as a drop big and hopefully experiment with the shot and develop a Kornet type of player. Overall I cant blame them it's just a great player for a really cheap price and consistent play you don't have on the roster. B.
Jazz: D+
Look taking on bad contracts and reducing the Guard abundance is a smart idea for this Jazz team but with Sexton you have to be getting a positive value out of him not losing picks and getting worse players in return, doesn't make sense. Might as well keep him and play up value for the deadline. I just don't understand it but I guess it's not so bad it's the end of the world. I mean your not competing anyway and then your trading only a second but its a bad trade to me. One of the first trades below a C this season.
