Herb Jones? “Yeah, he’s a great defender. So we’re thinking… 2 first-round picks, maybe 3 if you really want him. We’ll check back at Christmas to see if the price goes up.” 🎄

Trey Murphy III? “Elite shooter, young, tons of potential. The package starts at 3 first-round picks, a young star, and your best player’s house keys. Don’t worry, we’re being reasonable.” 😭

Dejounte Murray? “Former All-Star? Great fit? Perfect piece for a contender? Exactly. That’s why we need 5 firsts, your best prospect, and probably your team’s WiFi password too.” 😂

And Zion Williamson? The Pelicans are probably like: “We’re not trading Zion… unless someone offers us the entire NBA, every draft pick until 2050, and a lifetime supply of gumbo.”

Meanwhile other GMs are just sitting there like: “Bro, we didn’t ask for your players’ 2K ratings, we asked for their trade value.” 💀

The crazy thing is these players can actually help teams. Herb, Trey, Dejounte and the others are valuable pieces. But if every player has a superstar price tag, nobody is calling.

Wouldn’t the NBA be better if these guys were actually on teams where they can compete, play important minutes and help playoff runs?

Maybe the Pelicans need to remember one thing: a player’s value is not what you think it is… it’s what someone is willing to pay.
