It’s that time of the year again

This whole trend started with AJ Green making a trade using a rat. This inspired a bunch of people a year ago to make their own crazy trades, including me. Around this time last year I made a trade using a receipt I got from Grocery Shopping and followed it up 6 months later with a trade using my Spotify playlist.

Unfortunately since then, there hasn’t really been anything as creative released in the trade front. There has been many things on this site that have been extremely creative such as the Album Cover series (Subtle Plug 😁) but nothing since around the start of this year has really shown anything in the trade front

And today I’ll try my best to change this with a trade using a one dollar coin that’s probably been in my wallet since 2024 because I’m hopeless at spending money (What a bad problem to have, how unfortunate I am). Surprisingly enough, this small coin actually has a fair amount of information on it, so it’s not gonna be impossible

Just a quick side note, this’ll be the last you’ll hear from me for a few days. No need to worry, I’ll just be on camp. Funnily enough, this is exactly what happened with my Grocery trade so that’s something. Anyways, short side note aside, I really hope this trade gets some of you to make more things like this. It’s been a while since there was something that everyone was doing their own part of on here if that makes any sense.

Anyways enough blabbering on, let’s get into it!

Part 1 - Teams

Deciding the teams is the easiest part by far. Heads was the Eastern Conference and Tails was the Western Conference. The first flip was a tail, so one of the teams will be in the West. The second flip was a Head, so the other team will be in the East.

To determine the actual teams included, I used the year that the coin was minted. The Head side said it was minted in 2005, so the team in the West would be the 20th seed (Doesn’t exist obviously, so I just stopped it at 15 before adding 5, making it the 5th seed) and the team in the East would be the 05th seed, or the 5th seed

This gave me the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets as the two teams I’d use in the trade

Part 2 - Players

This is where things get complicated

The coin I had was a WW2 Peace Treaty memorial coin, so on the front was the years of WW2, 1939-1945. I decided to use the left side as the West team (Rockets) and the right side as the East team (Raptors).

This meant that the Rockets would give up players 1, 9, 3 and 9 while the Raptors will give up players 1,9,4 and 5. Now obviously the Rockets can’t give up the 9th player twice, so I flipped the coin to decide if they should give up the 8th or the 10th player. Heads was 8th and 10th was Tails. The coin flipped on Tails, so the Rockets will give up the 10th player. Sorting by contract amount, this gave me the following players;

The Rockets would give up Kevin Durant, Fred VanVleet, Marcus Smart and Clint Capela while the Raptors will give up Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl and Ja’Kobe Walter

Part 3 - Picks

First I flipped the coin to decide if there was actually gonna be picks in this trade. Heads was Yes, and Tails was no. The coin ended up flipping on Tails, so no picks will be in the trade

Anticlimactic sure, but at least my job is much easier
