Ultimately, this is more of a prediction from my end. I believe two things from Phoenix's side: that they want a package of either a middle tier young player who is high up in that middle tier (Franz Wagner, for example) or a package that has a good veteran and a project player (Basing this prediction off of previous discussions with Utah to try and acquire Bojan Bogdanovic and Jarred Vanderbilt from Utah for Crowder, Shamet, and draft compensation). Since Crowder is expected to go to a contender, I do not think that the contenders can satisfy their asking price, which is why I am comfortable predicting that any Crowder trade will be a multi-team trade. I think Milwaukee would like to have a PJ Tucker-type player back in their lineup, and Crowder can do that.

It is a complex prediction, to me. I think that the main prediction centers around the framework of Crowder to Milwaukee, Grayson Allen to Houston, and Eric Gordon to Phoenix. I think there will be some draft compensation involved, probably sent to Houston, but I had a hard time inserting draft compensation in this deal, so just imagine some level of compensation sent to Houston. I think that the sticking point in this trade will be KJ Martin, a cool young player who is big-bodied, a good inside-the-arc scorer, and an improving jump shot. I can imagine the difficulty of getting rid of a good young player who, while he did request a trade earlier in the year, is performing while Tate has missed games.

To make sense of it,

FOR PHOENIX

  • Phoenix acquires a veteran shot creator, an offensive element the team lacks.

  • An intriguing young player with good rebounding skills, an area of the game that Phoenix routinely ranks near the bottom in

FOR MILWAUKEE

  • Milwaukee acquires their PJ Tucker-type player: a big-bodied wing who has the strength to guard the post, the quick hands to defend on the perimeter, and good (but streaky) shooting

FOR HOUSTON

  • Draft compensation to continue the tank for one of Victor/Scoot

  • Veteran talents to potentially use at the deadline to acquire more picks, while acting as mentors to the young guys (Allen has intrigue as a catch-and-shoot, 3&D guard, bounces around contenders, can teach shooting, defense, and winning pedigree to the guards; Saric has shooting and smart team defense and veteran presence that allows him to play 10-15 minutes in a playoff rotation, can help Sengun due to their similar skillsets)

This exact package is not the prediction, to reiterate. It is the framework of Crowder to Milwaukee, Eric Gordon to Phoenix, and Grayson Allen to Houston that I am predicting. Let me know what you think of this hypothetical/prediction.
