Part 1 of revisiting trades that almost went through. (Imagine the Suns' #4 pick in 2017 being included, I couldn't include picks) --- Plenty of NBA stars were traded in the 2017 NBA offseason: Paul George to OKC, Chris Paul to Houston, Kyrie Irving to Boston, and Jimmy Butler to Minnesota as a few of the big name trades in that offseason.

On draft day in 2017, the Cleveland Cavaliers were pushing hard to trade for Paul George, a wing they thought could match up better against a Golden State Warriors team with Kevin Durant. They discussed multiple frameworks, including a three-team deal that would have sent Kevin Love to Denver. The Cavaliers were nearing a deal with Indiana and the Phoenix Suns that would have sent Paul George and Eric Bledsoe to Cleveland, Kyrie Irving and Channing Frye to Phoenix, and Jared Dudley, Iman Shumpert and the #4 pick in 2017 to Indiana. Keep in mind that this was before Kyrie's trade request from Cleveland.

The deal seemed to be good from Indiana's standpoint, with no reports saying that they were having second thoughts or willingness to back out of a potential deal. The contract negotiations between Cleveland's ownership and front office members David Griffin and Trent Redden and the ultimate falling out there (and their soon-to-be dismissals) played a large factor in the trade not going through. There was also a report saying that Phoenix was resistant on including the 4th pick, which eventually became Josh Jackson.

How do you think this would have shifted the NBA landscape? Would that Cleveland team have worked? Would LeBron have stayed long-term had the trade gone through? How would the Pacers have gone about a rebuild? Could a Kyrie Irving-young Devin Booker duo have led to anything? Share your thoughts! :)
