I understand this trade may take a little explaining, why does each team do this?

Orlando Magic: They don't give up too much to get Porzingis. Yes, KP misses too much time, but keeping Goga and extending Wagner, 2 bigs the Magic already trust, should give them some cushion just in case KP misses time. As for his fit, the Magic GM said he wanted to go all out win now mode and this is a move in that direction, Porzingis is a great scorer at his size and offense was the biggest issue, not to mention he is a great shot blocker as well. It is necessary to put spacing around Paolo Banchero and this move does that and then some.

Boston Celtics: The Celtics are desperate to clear up cap space and it is clear Porzingis is going to be one of those casualties, but as a plus, they also get off of Sam Hauser's contract in this deal too. They don't get a whole lot back but Wendell Carter Jr will definitely be a rotational big for them, especially if Luke Kornet signs elsewhere. They also get back Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin in this trade, 2 unproven young players that they hope they can develop into nice role players for their championship caliber roster.

Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks only give up 2 seconds and Kobe Bufkin in this deal, yes that is not much, but they are taking back bad contracts to make this deal work for Boston and Orlando, this trade would not work without a third team who can take money back and that is the Hawks. They take a shot on Jonathan Isaac in hopes to improve their overall team defense, they have the runner up for DPOY, but the defense was still bad around Trae Young. Sam Hauser is a great shooter that can come off the bench and play good minutes. They get back pick 32 in this trade as well as a small incentive for helping make this trade happen by taking on a good chunk of money.
