Post Draft and Mo Gueye's team option being picked up for the 2026-27 season, Atlanta finds themselves in an interesting position.

Their Centre/Front Court depth seems pretty stacked in numbers and with that in mind they probably will look to move one of these guys on in order to fill out the wing positions even more. I think the most likely candidate maybe Newell or newly drafted Veesar.

Newell played 44 games and spent a fair amount of time in the g league. He shows promise in a lot of areas from outside shooting, athleticism, size and could be a really great player in the future. However with Hawks resigning Gueye who was favoured ahead of him last season and Zubi Ejiofor playing similar roles as a versatile 4/5 playing time could be limited for Newell.

Veesar had a few admirers late in the draft, reportedly the Lakers were ready to draft him so could look to trade for him. A 7 footer with great range to stretch the floor and offensive touch could be a real value to quite a few teams around the NBA.

Risacher fell out of the playoff rotation and with this in mind it maybe be better for both parties for him to have a fresh start elsewhere. With his size, shooting potential and increase in minutes in New Orleans would be a useful asset for the Pelicans moving forward.

Hield would be a through in to make the salaries work, but as an NBA vet with elite shooting and being a great locker room guy, it would be a great piece for the Pelicans team going into next season.

The Hawks would include the Pelicans swap worst first rounder next year, which post Giannis trade becomes a lot more valuable and a future first rounder to further sweeten the deal. Hopefully New Orleans have no issues trading with the Hawks post Daniels/Murray trade and the infamous Derek Queen trade, which turned into the Hawks picking Kingston Flemings this season.
