In order to completely understand the moves a team makes the timeline of events must be listed as well.

Pre Draft

  • Waive Ricky Council's non guaranteed contract.

  • Decline Jeff Dowtin's team option.

Draft

  • Pick 16 the 76ers select Devin Carter

  • Pick 41 the 76ers select Alex Karaban

Explanation: Devin Carter could very well be taken before this but I have him falling to the 76ers due to the big men surge in the late lottery. He's an obvious pick but Karaban shows some solid 2 way ability during his college years. A cheap wing is exactly what the 76ers will need to help build out their roster.

Free Agency

  • Trading Paul Reed to the Raptors for a future SRP. He was going to be waived to free up salary but since the Raptors called they made the deal creating a TPE instead.

  • Trading the 2026 Thunder FRP along with the 2027 76ers SRP and 2027 Bucks SRP they acquire Jerami Grant from the Blazers making them officially a Room team.

  • The first free agent they go after is the affordable Tyus Jones giving him a 4 year contract worth 60 million. This includes a player option during the final year.

  • The 76ers with about 32 million in salary left to spend target cheaper role players starting with Lonnie Walker. They give him a 3 year contract worth 15 million.

  • Luke Kornet brings a big man who can play solid overall and hurt their biggest rival. The 76ers give him a 4 year contract worth 16 million with a player option on the final year. If accepted, it is only partially guaranteed through January of that year.

  • With under 20 million available they turn their attention back to Kelly Oubre, giving him a 3 year contract starting at 14 million. The deal totals up to 46 million and includes a player option after year 2.

  • Now that their cap space has all been used they give Tyrese Maxey a max contract.

  • They then give Batum a 2 year contract worth 16 million starting at the full Room MLE.

  • Resigning Lowry comes next giving him a 1 year minimum.

  • The 76ers are able to bring in Cam Payne back a minimum deal for 2 years with the 2nd year being a player option.

  • They sign Alex Karaban to a 4 year deal with 2 non guaranteed years on the back end.

  • After Chris Duarte is released by the Jazz the 76ers sign him to a 2 year minimum with the 2nd year being a team option.

  • Justin Holiday joins the roster on a 2 year minimum deal with a player option on the final year.

  • Bismack Biyombo also joins with a 2 year minimum deal with a player option on the final year.

Start of Season

Starting lineup:

  • Tyus Jones

  • Tyrese Maxey

  • Kelly Oubre

  • Jerami Grant

  • Joel Embiid

The bench and team overall is completely different. However, Kyle Lowry and Nic Batum still remain giving solid leadership to the team. Adding in Lonnie Walker, Luke Kornet and Alex Karaban give the team a little bit of shooting as well.

During the season

It doesn't take long for Devin Carter to start eating into Lowry's minutes. If given the minutes needed he'd be in the running for 6th man of the year. By deadline Lowry is mostly a DNP player. The starting 5 gels together almost immediately and is a top 5 lineup in the league. Duarte and Holiday both play well in spots but are never consistent. Payne delivers every time he gets on the floor having Nurse to choose between him, Walker, and Karaban with Karaban ending up as the odd man out. Embiid stays healthy all year playing less than 28 mpg but still putting up MVP type numbers.
