Hawks trade Wisconsin native and budding star Jalen Johnson, along with Onyeka Okongwu, Kobe Bufkin, and four first-round picks (plus one convoluted swap that involves the Bucks) for Giannis and AJ Green.
Bucks get to reset around proven young talents who are on long contracts, and get a haul of picks. See if Bufkin can develop. They would also presumably move on to trade Dame and other vets.
Hawks then trade two seconds for Nikola Vucevic into their largest trade exception. Send two seconds to the Bulls who don't have any use for him anymore.
Hawks could also explore other centers instead, like Jakob Poeltl, or signing and trading for Steven Adams. The TPE is roughly $25 million. I like Vucevic as a stretch 5 next to Giannis but could definitely go another way. If there was a chance Myles Turner would take $25 million a year in a sign and trade, that would be ideal. Also, Vucevic is on a one year deal after which they could explore other options.
Hawks trade another two seconds for Wendell Carter Jr. into another TPE. His usage has declined on the Magic, he's coming off a down year, and they seem to have other centers they like. Hawks hope he can bounce back.
Hawks sign Monte Morris as a backup PG for the BAE.
Starting Lineup: Trae - Daniels - Risacher - Giannis - Vucevic
Next five:
Morris - Green - Mann/Krejci - Niang/Gueye - Carter Jr.
