This is a dynamic trade with stars moving across the league, but in directions I can see each team going.
If the Hawks decide to move on from the Trae Young era and build around Jalen Johnson, this may be the direction they choose to go. Moving on from Porzingis' injury history as well they add a great all-round big man in Sabonis whilst significantly improving their wing-depth with the addition of Jonathan Kuminga. The returning Bogi keeps a similar sort of profile to Kennard and with Dennis Schroder returning to the team who drafted him Atlanta keeps an element of that rapid, playmaking ball-handler they had with Trae Young.
The Kings start to move in a rebuilding direction, getting some good draft assets from a strong draft in 2026 and also trying to start rebuilding their roster. Whether Reid or Gobert are players they choose to build around long term remains to be seen, but with Gobert they have a defensive anchor that could begin to build a young core around. Reid has always been a player who has the potential to thrive when he has more offensive responsibility and as Sacramento continues to rebuild their roster he should have the opportunity to do that.
Golden State taking an all-in gamble on this trade, acquiring two players who when healthy put the Warriors in championship contention. When healthy Kawhi Leonard is a upgrade on Jimmy Butler providing an incredible scorer alongside Steph Curry, whilst Porzingis' floor spacing ability and low post efficiency could create nightmares for opposing defenses.
The Clippers retool, hoping for more reliability from Butler than Leonard, whilst also getting pieces they prefer. Chris Paul's exile and Ty Lue's reluctance to play Bogdan Bogdanovic any significant minutes is replaced by Mike Conley and Luke Kennard, and to create more space for Butler to work in they acquire the ageing Al Horford. With these all being shorter term deals this gives the Clippers the flexibility in future years to redesign their roster in whichever way they see fit and acquire some 2nd rounder draft picks in the process.
The Timberwolves have been searching for a PG for a while, and with the acquisition of Trae Young they get their man. With the outgoing Gobert contract they add a younger Zubac to keep the size in the anchor of their defense. Keon Ellis has been being shopped by Sacramento and this acquisition adds more elite perimeter defense and depth off the bench alongside DiVincenzo. With the outgoing Mike Conley, the Wolves keep a vet presence on the bench with the acquisition of CP3.
