For this trade I am assuming Jimmy will leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
Here is what I would do to build a competitive team, only taking into account Free Agents or players who are on the trade block, since I dont believe we have assets to go for a big star.
I did not think about trades or anything, these are just the players I would target. For this to work Rozier and Duncan would have to go, not getting into the expected contracts or how much it would cost. I dont know if it is even possible to sign all of them.
First I would address the starting PG position. An ideal fit would be someone who can defend and shoot the 3. Caruso would be great, OKC may want to pay him tho. If Lonzo Ball could ever go back to what he was, he could also be a good option.
Without Jimmy we would need our first option, of all the available options (there are not many of them) BI is the best one, he is a three level scorer with underrated passing. And has enough size and athleticismo to be an above average defender, he just has to be willing to do it.
Finally I am assuming Ware will not be ready, so getting a stretch big who already is what Ware can become would be great for his development. Turner is a long shot since I think Indiana will want to keep him. But Lopez can be a good option for a lower price.
A potential lineup of Caruso, Herro, Ingram, Adebayo and Lopez is a very balanced line up and an upgrade to what we have now. Size, spacing, defense...
What would yall do?
