They're never going to do this (Pat Riley) but since the Heat made the playoffs this season, their pick in the 2025 draft goes to the Thunder and the Heat gain control of their own firsts for the foreseeable future.
What a rational, normal franchise would do in their scenario, where they're staring down an expensive roster that is only good enough for 2 play-in victories and first round exit, with very little young talent (no disrespect to Mr. Ware), is embrace a rebuild. Reform a new nucleus around Kel'el Ware and whoever you pick with this haul of firsts.
For their two all-stars. they get 5 firsts and two promising but flawed young players in Jalen Green and Onyeka Okongwu. Both of them have shown a lot of intrigue and star/starter potential, but neither have fully put it together yet. This give the Heat the perfect opportunity to develop them while also building a young core in the strong 2025 and 2026 drafts.
