Knicks make a low risk trade for front court depth while the wizards get more draft assets to rly rebuild this incredibly young team.
Note: precious deal is descending from 9-7.5-7 and will have team option for second and third year, toppin deal will also be to for second and third year.
Wizards side: bagley is a solid player but with sarr being the wizards bet on big man of the future w kuzma still there and them just having brought in Val, bagley doesn’t seem like a real part of the present or future. Getting rid of him while taking on some light contracts from similarly young players and adding 2 protected picks including their own is pretty good value imo and will be a beneficial way to continue their future.
Knicks: Knicks take a bit of a gamble on their 9th man and their needed front court depth. Bagley is talented and a very good rebounder pick and roller and in general a solid offensive player. However, he has no defense and an inconsistent shot. The inconsistent shot is not something the Knicks can rly fix, but I think defense is. Bagley has shown flashes(admittedly as most athletic players do) of being a good defender, but his iq is low and he has never been surrounded by a good defensive organization in his life. The Knicks culture is defense and rebounding, and with bagley already having one of those down I could see him becoming a viable defender for a good defensive team. Making this move the Knicks would likely need to find an extra center somewhere as trusting bagley to start at the 5 when Mitch inevitably gets injured is prob a bad call, but bagley should be able to play some good minutes and allow for some interesting small ball esque lineups without sacrificing a guy like og to play the 5.
