The Knicks make a move before the deadline: Murray, Griffin and Drummond in, Grimes and Fournier out

There's been a lot more noise around the Knicks the last couple of days as the trade season has moved forward. It's looking more and more like Grimes is on his way out in addition to the likely departure of Fournier. His minutes have been cut and he's been frustrated and needs a change of scenery. The Knicks bench play has dropped drastically since IQ was traded and its clear the bench needs some help. I'm worried about the usage of Brunson and Randle as both have been doing more and more and Thibs tends to overplay his top players.

Knicks: I've loved how Deuce has looked while Brunson was out and want him to get more time. However, it's clear that the Knicks need someone who's better to run those bench units and Murray could be that guy. He could run the second unit and also push into the starting unit at times too. The Knicks would hope his defense comes back on a more defensively organized team (and under Thibs) and his 3 point shooting is at a good number and his career best. He's also signed for a reasonable amount and would be likely to hold a good trade value at the end of the season if they try to flip him for a top 5 player. They also get AJ Griffin who they've reportedly liked and who could be their new young prospect to develop. They also get Drummond who can fill in as backup center as Hartenstein's minutes are out of control and it doesn't seem that Achiuwa is the solution.

Hawks: The Hawks are ready to move on and retool this roster and Murray is one of their most attractive players, albeit one who's value has dropped. The Hawks aren't going to get the 3 first round picks back and are reportedly looking for 2 FRPs. They get those picks, although they're not super high value, plus 2 second round picks. The real prize for them is Grimes who fits better around Trae than Murray does as he doesn't need the ball to be effective and is a good defender. They also don't want long term salary and Fournier's contract next season is a team option so they can open up some space.

Bulls: The Bulls are definitely in rebuild mode and would be wise to ship out any assets they have. Drummond is on an expiring contract and the Bulls can get a couple of second rounders.
