I'm starting to warm to the idea of DLo coming to the Knicks, especially if the price isn't that high. The Hawks and Lakers reportedly have had advanced talks for a trade that would see Murray head to the Lakers. The sticking point has reportedly been that the Hawks don't want DLo's contract on the books past this year. Could the Knicks swoop in?

Knicks: The Knicks only have to give up Fournier who was already on his way out, and 2 second round picks for DLo. He played some of his best ball in NYC (albeit on the Nets) and without the pressure to be the starting PG, would be a great asset for the second unit. His lack of defense is a concern but on the bench unit it wouldn't be as big of an issue and that unit has several players who are tough on defense who can make up for it. The Knicks need to add creation to the bench unit as the bench unit's offensive production has taken a huge hit since IQ was traded and this could be a low cost way to do that. His player option for next year also isn't an issue since they want his salary to use in the eventual star trade in the offseason. They still get to keep Grimes and have an open roster spot to either make an additional move to bring in a big man (I still want Drummond on this team) or shop the buyout market (Hayward may end up being available).

Lakers: The Lakers get their starting PG and a former All-Star at that in Dejounte Murray. He adds size to the first unit and is in the midst of his best season shooting from 3. They give up a FRP and a pick swap in order to do so along with Jalen Hood-Schifino. Murray might be the piece to take them to the next level and give them the chance to truly contend. While DLo has looked better in recent weeks, the Lakers may be remembering his disappearing act in the playoffs last year and might want a more talented PG in his place. Murray also has a rep for solid defense (although that's slipped on a bad Hawks team) and the Lakers hold onto other key pieces like Reaves.

Hawks: Supposedly talks are quite advanced for this trade and if the only holdup is the long term salary of DLo, the addition of the Knicks solves that while bringing in 2 extra second rounders. Fournier is on a team option for next year so he doesn't represent any long term salary and they also get a prospect in Hood-Schifino. They get a potentially high value FRP from the Lakers and a pick swap in 2030.
