I think both teams go for this. Mitch is a rim protecting five who will hopefully be entering the offseason healthy and playing well(and making ~12 mil next year). Zo is making 10 mil next year and the Bulls are swamped with guards. I doubt Zo is a long term play, they likely just think Zo can fetch more value with a full year under his belt on a lower contract.

In general, I think the Knicks will trade Mitch this offseason and hopefully his value will be substantially better with half a season and a playoff run of playing under him
