Recent reports indicate that Keldon Johnson may be available for interested teams. The Spurs also have been linked to IQ as they are in desperate need of a PG and he fits the timeline and they have the cap space to sign him to a new contract. Could both teams find a way to improve each other this season?

Knicks: The Knicks need more offensive firepower but need to do so without completely sacrificing defense. Johnson is a solid offensive player who is a solid 3 point shooter and would get some better looks than he does on a Spurs team where he's been asked to carry a high load on offense. He's not a lockdown defender but he's solid there and would help make the Knicks offense more dynamic. Losing IQ is really tough but I don't think the Knicks are going to pay him what he can get elsewhere and since they don't see him in the starting lineup, you don't generally pay your backup PG north of 25 million, which is what IQ will likely sign for in the offseason. Johnson gives the Knicks some size, a solid wing and would be a very tradeable piece in a future trade as the Knicks still have a ton of picks left to trade.

Spurs: The Spurs are having a terrible season but they're super young, have a ton of first round picks and have a lot of flexibility going forward. If they've really decided that Johnson is not part of the plan going forward, getting IQ, a first round pick and some high value second rounders is a pretty good pickup. The Knicks might need to add at least 1 more first round pick to make this happen as they Spurs might want more. Fournier is also on a team option for next year so he could be flipped for more assets too. But the real prize is IQ, who would instantly be their starting PG. The Spurs tried the point-Sochan experiment but it did not work and they have really suffered for not having a good PG to orchestrate the offense. IQ was nearly the Sixth Man of the Year last season and has shown it was no fluke. He's also a solid defender and fits the timeline and could help this Spurs team grow into a contender in the future.
