Here is the idea, if you don't want to read it all check the TLDR at the bottom.
Why Houston does it: Pretty obvious, booker, unlike anyone on this team right now, is a proven number 1 option on a championship team. He is a great offensive playmaker both scoring and passing the ball and not a liability defensively even if hes not like all defense level. Giving up Green is probably more of a blessing than a curse due to his inconsistent play. Giving up Bari is more challenging, but imo Tari has been a lot of what the Rockets want Bari to be anyway, so this shouldn't be too big of a loss. Rockets would need to throw in some salary filler as well, which could be steven adams, jeff green, or if they are low on reed sheppard, reed sheppard. Rockets could move on from fred this offseason or keep him around, same idea with brooks, assuming Brooks stays but Fred is gone they run a starting 5 of something like this.
Lineup: Amen, Booker, Brooks, Tari, Sengun.
The rest of this trade is certainly questionable, but lets get into why the Suns may entertain this part.
Suns: This team is in a rough spot right now. Way over the apron and not good. This trade also likely involves moving KD somewhere else. The goal for the Suns is to reset, acquring draft capital, young assets, and cap space. So why move Bari, a young asset, for medicore draft capital? Well the answer is simple, cap space. Bari is going to demand a contract somewhere in the range of 18-30 mil a year, and his play has not quite lived up to that value, especially this year. On the other hand, Mitchell Robinson is on an expriring deal next year, and even if the suns want to resign him(for some reason), it should not cost more than 8-10 mil a year due to his injury history. Therefore, the want to not pay Bari plus some really good second rounders with the Wizards pick could be enough to make the Suns agree to this.
Knicks: Easy, they get a switchable defender and decent(but more importantly willing), three point shooter to insert into the starting lineup alongside Kat and Og at the 3 thru 5. Bari is a great rebounder(playing small ball 5 a lot last year), and mobile enough to be a good defender, if not great yet. The knicks would have to find a way to pay him, and tbh I am not sure how they would be able to yet, I don't know exacty how second apron and restricted free agency mesh, but they at the very least get Bari for one year. This moves Hart to the bench, allows the Knicks to play 5 out, and gives them a first ballot 6 MOY candidate in Hart while McBride will continue to be valuable off the bench. For the record, I also think that this moves comes with firing Thibs, after these last 2 games I simply don't believe he is an adaptable enough coach to lead this team to the promised land. At the end of the day the Knicks are a tier below the Celtics, Cavs, and Thunder, but the talent tier is not a 30 point difference, but a move like this can def get them closer.
TLDR: Rockets get Book who fits timeline better than KD, Suns get Green and move Bari to Knicks so they don't have to pay him(likely move KD in process), Knicks continue 3 and d big wing quest to improve starting 5 and move Hart to bench
