Knicks - getting Mitchell Robinson back healthy would be nice for the Knicks as he adds rebounding and defense, but the problem is he’s a liability offensively and has health concerns. For a Knicks team that doesn’t have a ton of depth, they can’t rely on him. Jonas is a guy who stays healthier, is a great rebounder, and although not a great defender, he still would provide a guy to play with KAT so KAT can defend at the 4. He’s also a great offensive weapon and won’t take away from the floor spacing. The Knicks don’t really mind the second rounders either since they’re in win now mode. This also saves the Knicks some cap space.
Wizards - Jonas doesn’t really have a future in Washington as Alex Sarr will take more and more of his minutes. He’s an older veteran so he’s always been likely to be traded. Here they net Robinson and two seconds. Robinson could be traded again, or kept around to increase his value if he can stay healthy. Either way he’s only on a 2 year deal so they can let him go if needed. The seconds aren’t anything special but considering the Wizards added Jonas through FA this past offseason, it would all be net gain.
