I'll start this off by saying that I don't think the Knicks should trade Randle. Despite all the hate that's come his way, he's been a huge part of the success for the Knicks and it's not easy to replace a two time All-Star and All NBA player who averages 20/10/5. He also draws tons of attention on the offensive end and is able to leverage his great passing skills to find open shooters. That being said, it's hard to see any other trade options available for the Knicks as they are pretty strapped for assets after trading for Bridges. He also has an extension coming up and if the Knicks don't feel like they want to give him a long term contract with a hefty raise, they could look to do a trade like this instead.

Knicks: The Knicks add their backup, and even potential starting center in Gafford. He was putting up solid numbers and working hard on a terrible Wizards team before being traded to the Mavs last year. He plays hard and would fit in well on this team. They also get PJ Washington to replace Randle. He's younger and while not nearly as good, still has a ton of potential, can shoot well from 3 and is solid on defense. He can play some of the bruiser role that Randle did and fill it pretty well. Plus, the Knicks could also play OG and Bridges at the 3 and 4 and move DDV back to the starting lineup. This would give the Knicks more firepower from 3 and have a great bench lineup. I also have them re-signing Achiuwa in this scenario which would give them another backup center who plays hard and knows the team. He fit in well after the Toronto trade and I'd like to see him back. The Knicks would get a couple of second rounders in return and still have the taxpayers mid-level to sign another player.

Mavs: I modified the original trade and took out Jaden Hardy because although I personally think it's fair value for Randle, I doubt that the Mavs send out 3 playoff caliber players in one trade. Hardy soaked up a bunch of minutes last year and played really well for them. By keeping him and adding some second rounders in his place, I think it makes it slightly more palatable for the Mavs. They get Sims to replace Gafford and although he's very raw and won't fill his production, he does give them a young and cheap option at center. What the Mavs do get is a 20/10/5 guy in Randle who's proven he can be more than the ball-dominant player that he's often painted to be. He would thrive in a lineup with Kyrie, Luka and Klay and would give them a truly potent offensive starting lineup. They would definitely suffer on defense but it didn't feel like the Mavs were really prioritizing defense anyways. They could beat people so many ways on offense to make up for it.
