Grizzlies trade JJJ and Smart for Robinson, Bogdanovic, McBride, and 4 draft picks (3 FRPs).

Why the Knicks do it:

• don’t have the roster space to add 2 first round picks to the roster

• Robinsons injuries have been a problem. JJJ is an upgrade, despite the much higher salary

Why the Grizzlies do it:

• get as much as they can for JJJ while in the rebuild stage

• Robinsons skill set isn’t much different from JJJs and he makes a lot less money

• Bogdanovic is an expiring contract and can be a valuable trade asset to get another pick at the deadline

• McBride is one of the best contracts in the league and is arguably better than Smart

• Getting 4 draft picks will help the rebuild
