To start with the main problem is that they don't have a good enough center so the first thing I would use would be a better rim protector so a player to trade for could be Clint Capela or Walker Kessler because they are better interior defenders than Jaxson Hayes and Alex Len. Other targets could be a 3&D type of player and some options are both from the Knicks in OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges who are elite 3&D guys who would likely fit perfectly next to LeBron James and Luka Doncic. One last target is a cheaper center in Nikola Vucevic who is a stretch big to pair with LeBron James/ Luka Doncic in space heavy line-ups. Since LeBron is retiring soon that means that the LA Lakers will need to pass the crown to the younger guys and some players that could be considered are Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and Bronny James and with that they will need to try get a small forward that is like a 3&D guy that has some experience in the playoffs and winning so the roles of some players will increase with time of LeBron retiring. Next thing is trying to get some free agents and some target for them to sign would be Malik Beasley who is a shooting guard that has great shooting ability and is quite efficient from the field and from the three point line, Jalen Smith is an athletic stretch big who could fit better than Hayes/Len for LeBron James and Luka Doncic, Delon Wright / Jevon Carter is a defensive guard to replace inconsistent bench guards, Gary Trent Jr is a great off the bench player and a floor spacer and lastly Nerlens Noel / Bismack Biyombo who are veterans rim protectors if no big trades work. Rui Hachimura – young, physical forward who can score and defend. Maxi Kleber – useful defender and shooter if healthy. Dalton Knecht – develop as future bench scoring option. Let Markieff Morris, Alex Len, and possibly Shake Milton walk unless they’re veteran minimums. Luka-centric PnR with LeBron as screener: unstoppable when used like Denver uses Jokic-Murray. 5-out lineups with Kleber at center, LeBron/Luka driving and kicking to shooters. High pace second unit with Knecht, Bronny, Rui, and Koloko. Aggressive drop coverage if acquiring a better rim protector. Switch-heavy scheme with Vanderbilt, Rui, Kleber, DFS if retained. Improve transition defense — with Luka and LeBron, it's often a weak spot. Starters: PG: Luka Dončić, SG: Austin Reaves, SF: LeBron James, PF: Jarred Vanderbilt, C: Acquired Rim Protector (Capela/Kessler/Vucevic) Bench: PG: Gabe Vincent (or replacement), SG: Dalton Knecht / Jordan Goodwin, SF: Rui Hachimura, PF: Maxi Kleber, C: Stretch 5 or rim protector (Noel/Smith/Biyombo). Deeper Bench: Bronny James, Trey Jemison, Delon Wright (or similar FA guard), Jalen Smith (FA)
