The Lakers get pieces they need to contend without giving up picks while Charlotte receives pieces that fit their team instead of losing bridges for nothing

Lakers - IMO Gary Trent Jr is a better pickup than Klay. He is a career 40% 3-point shooter and a better point-of-attack defender than Klay at this point of his career which is what the Lakers need for a successful backcourt with Reaves. Nick Richards is a quality backup at a great price who can bang with bigs like Jokic and is a great rebounder. Bridges would be the ideal wing to slot into the starting line and you can only get him for around this price because of the bad PR around his name

Charlotte - It would be better to get something for Bridges than lose him for free so they get D'lo who can play shooting guard beside Lamelo (kind of like Terry Rozier) or fill in at PG if Lamelo gets injured. If they don't want him on the roster he still holds value as a 18-million expiring contract. Rui could serve as a bridge replacement and a way to allow Tidjane Salaün to develop without pressure since he is still a project. Also, they get Jackson Hayes who is a center that fits their uptempo playstyle better than Richards and is a great lob threat for Lamelo
