The Lakers landed Luka Doncic (which I still can’t believe) and they have 4 days to find role players for the big 2. The assets they have remaining include Austin Reaves, The contract of Gabe Vincent, maybe Dalton Knecht if they get very desperate and picks wise they have 2 seconds this year and the 2031 first. This trade they use the Gabe Vincent money and 2 Seconds, and take the risk of Robert Williams, who is an amazing defensive center, becomes the anchor of their defense, not nearly as good as Anthony Davis, but does a decent job filling the hole he left. Offensively, Robert Williams isn’t amazing, obviously not AD but, he is a lob threat, and is very good at sitting in the dunker spot, waiting for the defense to over help and catch a lob, could be used as a slower, worse Aaron Gordon type, getting most of his points off of lobs. Robert Williams is the exact archetype of center that fits perfectly with Lebron and Luka, two of the best offensive threats in basketball, and two of the best passers in the league, the exact type of star that benefits the most from a lob threat. The biggest negative with Robert Williams is obviously the health. He has only played 17 out of 49 possible games this season, which could definitely turn off the lakers.

The Trail Blazers take whatever they can get for Robert Williams, taking the two mid-late second round picks this year and the potential of Jaxson Hayes, try to develop him into something. I don’t believe Robert Williams has much value around the league anymore, just due to the health, he can’t stay on the court, I think this is a deal the blazers take just to get value while they can.
