LA turns Vando and Gabe into KCP and Cory Joseph. Ideally, in a new environment around vets, you bank on him returning to form. He won't ever live up to the contract he's making now, but the defensive potential gives him a piece that the Lakers do not have. Also nice to get off of the Vando deal since the fit with Luka has been horrible
The Magic get off the KCP contract without surrendering much. He was a horrible fit for most of the season, so turning him into 2 expiring is great value, especially when you have extensions for Banchero and Wagner looming. Gabe doesn't have the ceiling of KCP but still provides solid defense at a decent price. Not to mention both he and holmes will be easy to move at the deadline since they are expiring contracts.
The Wizards turn an expiring into a young contract with a questionable contract but 2 seconds for free so that's fun. I do like the idea of Sarr, Bilal and Vanderbilt defensively. Not to mention, I do believe Vanderbilt's value will stabilize on a team that fits him more so he can be flipped down the line for even more stuff as the contract progresses. The Lakers aren't that with Luka BUT on a younger team that's looking to take the next step. A defensive energizer like Vando would go a long way
