-Lakers do this trade because they need defense presence in starting lineup with 3&D Wing. But biggest reason the lakers do this because it give them access to 3 total picks while getting a player that fit batter. Also some that not mentioned is Rue going get more then 18 this summer so the value of Rue contract going go down but Pwill contract going go up the closer it get to expiring and by end of his contract the 18 going be the MLE.

-Bulls do this to clear up money to sign Ayo, Coby, and Giddy to long term deal without getting to expensive. With being heavily protected pick the pick could never convey and turn into a couple seconds with getting a player they would look to flip for a second later or let expire this summer.

Some would say this lose lose for both team but it’s has positive affect for both team financially and draft capital. Lakers could have 5 tradable picks next summer most they have had since AD trade (Luka could realistically pick his next costar) Bulls then would have extra 18 million in expiring with addition of more talented player
