Cavs-Mavericks-Lakers-Bulls

FAILED

This trade was proposed today by ESPN as one of 3 possible deals (though not necessarily likely deals) for Dallas to move the first pick in this year's draft. I can see some value to Dallas doing this deal in that they get a star guard on the timeline with AD and the rest of their players, but their fans would not be happy, I'm guessing.

Cleveland making a new big three with Flagg, Mobley, and Garland is interesting, but this does leave them thin at guard (Vincent and Carter are both decent backup PGs, but neither will start). This doesn't help their tax issues in 2025-2026, but probably does beyond that. Gafford will get a raise after this season, but likely will still earn less than Allen in 2026-2027. PJ Washington is a nice rotation forward or may be re-routed to help with obtaining a starting 2-guard.

Lakers would do this deal. They are only giving up one first and two pick swaps which may never confer if the trade works the way they want. The rest of the deal for them is expiring and Knecht, who they were willing to move for a center last year and I think gets moved for one this off season anyway.

Bulls get picks, Knecht, and Martin without giving up anything of value.

I don't think that the Mavericks or Cleveland immediately hang up the phone here, but I'd be surprised if either team pulled the trigger on this. What do you think?
