Leaning into size and defense, the Lakers acquire the versatile swingman Jerami Grant who slots right into the starting lineup alongside Bron and AD as a shot creator, floor spacer and wing defender. Delon Wright is a hard-nosed defensive guard with size that perfectly complements their backcourt.

The Blazers, motivated to find Grant a new home in a winning situation, are able to turn his contract into two young pieces who better fit their timeline and a coveted Lakers first round pick. The 25 year-old Rui Hachimura fits right in as a starter between Ayton and Thybulle, providing size and shot creation. Corey Kispert, 24, is a buy low on a young prospect with elite shooting at the wing spot. The team buys out Danilo Gallinari to help him find a contender.

With no plans to re-sign Wright or commit to Kispert long term, the Wizards don’t give up much to land two guards who can help them now and in the future. D’Angelo Russell, for all his flaws on the Lakers, provides a balance of scoring, playmaking, and shot creation that helps the development of their younger core. The rookie Jalen Hood-Schfino is an intriguing prospect as a big point guard that they hope can develop into a long-term starter.
