If you're Washington, you're getting back a first for a player who doesn't fit. Smart is not a first-round pick player anymore, but you get one here, which should feel good since they gave up 2 when they acquired him.

If you're Dallas...Nico is a sucker for defense and Smart does provide that instantly. I don't think he's a viable stopgap point guard for Kyrie since he isn't a natural floor spacer or PNR ballhandler, BUT he can provide some secondary playmaking. If they can sign another guard, I do like the idea of Smart next to Irving in a potential closing lineup.
