TO BE CLEAR, FOR THIS TRADE TO HAPPEN, THERE ARE TWO CONDITIONS. 1) THE ROCKETS GET WEMBY. 2) D-LO STICKS AROUND IN LOS ANGELES. THIS IS A TRADE FOR NEXT YEAR. Why the Pistons do this: Ivey, while an incredible basketball player with high potential, does not fit well with Cade, who is clearly a cornerstone of the franchise. This trade sees them receive wing help, which has been a need for a while, and should make them more competitive. Why the Lakers do this: The window in which they can win a title isn't closing. It's closed. In this scenario they receive draft capital, which they haven't had in a while, and young talent to build their team around. Why the Rockets do this: If they get Wemby, this gives them a frontcourt duo of AD and Wembanyama. Anyone who isn't terrified by this is either a Rockets fan or high as a kite. Why the Kings do this: They add a top 5-10 player in the league to a roster that is winning now and likely wantsto contend for a title sooner rather than later. Adding the King is an effective way to do that.
