Trae Young goes to a young, on the come up defensive team in Orlando, who’s personnel can really hide a lot of Trae’s defensive liabilities well. And on the other end, Trae can provide the much needed offense, and could help set up Paolo and Franz with easier shots.

In return, Atlanta gets some picks back for Trae and reset the team around Dejounte rather than Trae. Markelle could come in off the bench for Dejounte, as they both do similar things and need the ball to be dominant. However, if you bring Markelle off the bench, it doesn’t hinder you if he gets injured. Gary Harris would provide Dejounte with a reliable shooter who can thrive in a fast-paced system. The real young piece coming back in this trade for Atlanta though, would be Jett Howard. While he hasn’t gotten a whole lot of proper playing time, Jett is a high lottery pick from this last year, and Atlanta could be a place for him to develop and showcase his offensive talents next to a defensive guard in Dejounte. So in addition to the players, Atlanta gets back 4 picks (5 if you think Jett is an equivalent to a pick), and I think that would take the offer over the edge, as Atlanta would get back picks in years that they gave out to Atlanta, while still maintaining the flexibility to not tank.
