Mavericks get: Kyrie Irving, Markieff Morris
Nets get: Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2027 second-round pick, a 2029 first-round pick (unprotected) and a 2029 second-round pick
DAL: B+
BRK: A-
Everyone knew and agreed that the Mavs needed a second star, and here it is. The fact that Kyrie is unpredictable makes it not an A, but still a very much needed move. Nets get an A for actually turning the bad situation into a sweepstake and squeezing from someone a better offer than what an obvious Lakers offer would be.
Spurs get: Dewayne Dedmon and a 2028 second-round pick
Heat get: Cash
SAS: A+
MIA: F
Terrible asset management from the Heat, that ended up doing nothing in the deadline. Dedmon was supposed to be a decent filler and backup C, and become a problem to the point where he had to be dumped.
Jazz get: Russell Westbrook, Damian Jones, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Lakers’ 2027 first-round pick (protected 1-4)
Timberwolves get: Mike Conley Jr., Nickeil Alexander-Walker, 2024 second-round pick, 2025 second-round pick, 2026 second-round pick
Lakers get: D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley
UTA: B
MIN: C+
LAL: A-
For the Jazz, they cleared major minutes for their young guards, opened future CAP, made the Minny 25 and 27 FRPs a little better by sending them Conley and got a coveted LAL FRP. For the Lakers, everyone expected any Jazz deal to involve 2 FRPs, not only the gave up 1 FRP, but they also turned Conley into DLo which is a better fit for them. For Minny, Conley help the locker-room and the Gobert quality of life, but it make their next season look odd with an older Conley; this is a fine win-now move, but it have some bad future implications imo.
Knicks get: Josh Hart
Blazers get: Cam Reddish, Svi Mykhailiuk, Ryan Arcidiacono, a 2023 first-round pick (lottery protected; if it doesn’t convey, it turns into four second-rounders)
NYK: C-
POR: B
The Knicks used some players they were not interested in which is fine, but they could've held on the first-pick for the offseason; Hart is not a needle mover on a short deal and it stunts Grimes and McBride PT. Also how they poorly managed the Reddish situation deserve to be taken into account. For Portland, felt a decent decision given how their season are looking, turn all their focus into resigning Grant and gave them a 15~22 pick which a new FO supposedly with a strong emphasis on drafting can do a decent job at picking.
Raptors get: Jakob Poeltl
Spurs get: Khem Birch, 2024 first-round pick, two second-round picks
TOR: C+
SAS: B+
It was def an unexpected deadline from Toronto, who finally got a starting C. This whole deal will depend on how good they look with the premise that a starting C was always their biggest need. Giving an lightly protected pick with too many years of protections is a negative, and they'll also have a tougher offseason ahead of them with one more UFA to deal with. For the Spurs they got decent compensation given how the market was dry on FRPs, this deal should also solidify them as a worse team than the Hornets to put them with top 3 odds in the lotto.
Suns get: Kevin Durant and TJ Warren
Nets get: Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four unprotected first-round picks (2023, 20225, 2027 and 2029), plus a pick swap in 2028
PHO: A
BRK: B+
Can't give less than an A for a team adding a top 8 guy. For the Nets, they got 2 young forwards that are keepers (one of which is the best on-ball defender in the league), and the 27/28/29 draft compensation they got is really juicy.
Nuggets get: Thomas Bryant
Lakers get: Davon Reed, three second-round picks
DEN: F
LAL: A+
No way TB is worth more than a SRP, plain and simple.
Celtics get: Mike Muscala
Thunder get: Justin Jackson, two second-round picks
BOS: B+
OKC: C+
Boston second are pretty worthless so it's also cheap when they throw those out. For OKC the only positive is opening space the young guys.
Bucks get: Jae Crowder
Nets get: Two second-round picks
Pacers get: George Hill, Serge Ibaka, Jordan Nwora, three second-round picks
MIL: B+
BRK: A-
IND: A+
Indy got 3 seconds for nothing so always a W. Bucks got a real defender and gritty guy for the playoffs, Nets got 2 SRPs for a guy they were going to waive.
76ers get: Jalen McDaniels
Hornets get: Svi Mykhailiuk, second-round picks
Blazers get: Matisse Thybulle
PHI: A+
CHA: D
POR: B-
I think it's weird that Blazers got into the deal to grab Thybulle, but I guess it's a bet worth taking considering how cheap it was. For the Sixers they swapped a SRP for a defensive forward that will give much needed depth against Cs and Bucks. For Hornets, when you considering the emergency of the situation (that McDaniels would go away for nothing) you kind of can justify the deal. But the fact that the situation reached this point and basically the hope is again developing a second-round guy to become just like Jalen make the FO looks terrible.
Hawks get: Saddiq Bey
Pistons get: James Wiseman
Warriors get: Gary Payton II
Blazers get: Five second-round picks
ATL: B-
DET: B+
GSW: D
POR: A+
Blazers had no business getting 5 seconds for GP2. Again, another case of terrible asset management, this time by the Warriors, not only getting rid of Wiseman as desperation, but overpaying to get a guy that were just someone they could've resigned. I think for Hawks and Pistons are 2 good gambles to take, a higher grade to Detroit since they're the tanking team, should give Wiseman plenty of minutes and he has a lot more upside than Bey.
Clippers get: Bones Hyland
Nuggets get: Two second-round picks
DEN: D-
LAC: B-
Another tragic deal for Denver, selling very low on a guy that fitted perfectly as a 6th man. For the Clippers it's a good cheap buy, but I don't know how much this acquisition will impact on their win-now hopes.
Hawks salary dump to Houston: small win for Houston, kind of move that a tanking team should make, that's an A for them.
Lakers get: Mo Bamba
Magic get: Patrick Beverley, second-round pick
LAL: B+
ORL: B+
Lakers payed cheap for a decent project to have, Magic got a second for a player they'd likely waive in the offseason.
Clippers get: Mason Plumlee
Hornets get: Reggie Jackson, second-round pick
LAC: C
CHA: C+
I don't think that move the needle in the slightest for the Clippers, another backup they're adding just for the sake of it. For the Hornets, the main thing about this trade is opening minutes for their young bigs, although still looks bad in comparison to the big amount of second thrown around.
Clippers get: Eric Gordon, three second-round picks
Rockets get: Danny Green, John Wall, first-round pick swap with Clippers
Grizzlies get: Luke Kennard
LAC: C-
HOU: A
MEM: B+
The second Reggie Jackson impressionist the Clippers got in the deadline. This time, a huge win for Houston that will climb 5~10 spots in the draft and get expirings in the proccess. The Kennard acquisition is underrated and definetly the kind of small move that can make the Grizz a little more versatile in the playoffs.
Spurs get: Devonte’ Graham, four second-round picks
Pelicans get: Josh Richardson
SAS: A-
NOP: C
Getting that amount of seconds for JRich is a dream coming true, also Devonte is a fine reclamation project for a team in huge need of PG play. For the Pels I get that he helps, but it feels an overpay for an expiring.
Suns get: Darius Bazley
Thunder get: Dario Saric, second-round pick
PHO: D
OKC: B+
They got a second for a non NBA player, gj Presti. Just giving Phoenix a D to not look stupid if Bazley is minimally useful.
