Background:
The son of former Spartan legend and NBA player Jason Richardson, Jase grew up in the Denver area and attended Christopher Columbus in Miami alongside the Boozer twins, who will likely be highlighting the 2026 draft. From there, he opted to commit to his father’s alma mater, Michigan State. There, as a freshman, he emerged as the #1 option on a young and scrappy Spartans squad that made it all the way to the Elite 8, earning an All-Big 10 nod in the process.
Pros:
Deadly force from midrange
Solid at rim finisher
Good ball handler
Can operate the pick and roll well
Knockdown 3 point shooter
Great decision maker
Elite and competitive defender
Great in on ball defense
Cons:
Undersized
Doesn’t project as a lead guard
Doesn’t do well in iso
Summary:
Richardson offers great scoring, 3 point shooting, defense, and decision making. However, he needs to bolster his frame if he wants to reach his true potential at the NBA level. At his ceiling, I’d argue he can be a do-it-all type glue guy, similar to guys like Derrick White and Josh Hart, with All-Star potential. At his floor, I’d argue he’s a key reserve off the bench. He’s a typical low ceiling, high floor prospect in my opinion.
