Background:
Growing up in South Carolina, Murray-Boyles would lead his high school to a state title his junior year. He would be ranked a 4 star and chose to stay close to home and be a Gamecock. In his freshman year, he quickly emerged as one of the best players for the Gamecocks, leading them to a NCAA tournament bid. Despite his sophomore year not yielding much team success as the year previous, he still earned a second team All-SEC nod.
Pros:
Elite defender who is extremely versatile
Great timing in terms of defense
High defensive IQ
Elite rebounder in both the offensive and defensive ends
Great passer, offers value as a playmaker
Great interior scorer
Skilled finisher
Cons:
Bad shooter
Undersized
Summary:
What CMB brings to the table is elite defense, interior scoring, and good passing. At his ceiling, I would argue he is a perennial DPOY candidate with All-Star talent. At his floor, he’s likely a defensive piece off the bench.
