Rob Dillingham:
On a big board he ranks high, very very skilled, handles, iso game, all there. Defending and playmaking tho, its quite mediocre. This makes him hard to fit in to most teams, its uncertain whether he should be a PG or SG
Teams probably prefer someone who can easily fit in, so example, Topic, clearly a PG, Sheppard, also is a PG/SG guy but his sharpshooting will make him fit in way better no matter if hes a PG or not
Which is why i can see a world that he will drop in the draft, if he slipped out of top 10, especially after Spurs and Jazz, there might be a world that Dillingham will be completely out the lotto, or not even close
Bronny James:
Just a minor one here, since Bron did say he has a chance to go paly with his son no matter what his contract is, there might still be a chance that some big market teams draft Bronny before Lakers at 55, cus srp is like nth to lose and its worth a risk to somehow add LeBron to the team
Bronny isnt even that bad of a prospect, 3&D PG who can be very very useful in the league down the line, so dont say that Bronny only gets drafted cus he got LeBron's DNA
Centers:
Just wanna point out that this FA class’s C market is quite thin. Hartenstein, Durmmond, Jonas, (Claxton), is probably the only quality C to be somewhat available to get in FA. Therefore expect to see teams short on depth for bigs to grab what they need from the draft
Zach Edey:
Its about time for college vets to get their respect. I certainly dont have much example here, but lemme just throw my guy TJD’s storyline in
He finished 2nd in college MVP voting, right behind Edey, was alrdy a great interior scorer, rebounder, shot blocker, who also is an above average passer as a big. With all these skillset he somehow still manage to fall to 57th pick, to my Warriors, and yea, was a top 15 rookie this year and contributed so much for us
People talk about age, people talk about ceiling, i believe in ability to contribute right now. This take is very obvious, its for Edey. Rlly do feel like people are sleeping on how dominant he can be
I do have the same doubts as a lot of yall, will his game translate well to the NBA. With 2 consecutive national player of the year, carrying Purdue to a NCAA Championship run, and putting up record-breaking stats, I’ve seen enough, theres concrete reasons that Edey could go not only lottery, but top 10
As high as Memphis at 9, after that it may be Bulls at 11 if they like him so much, and Thunder at 12, worth a risk
I'll now move on to the part where i wanna talk about my thoughts on some lottery prospects, whether they are overrated or underrated
Reed Sheppard:
I hope to do this post since March i think, its good to see that Sheppard has been rated by everyone way higher alrdy, but he still is getting slept on a bit
Its rlly very very rare to have a shooter shooting at such volume on high attempts per game. Keep in mind that hes a freshman too, give some time to him i believe he can develop into a 3 pt specialist who can create his own look. The physical tools also need to be talked about, the highest vertical jump is an absolute shocker, never thought he got that in his game
He might not be seen as a star rookie rn, dont be shocked if he can put in big numbers in rookie season with his elite shooting, and dont be surprised if he can be the next ‘best shooter in the league’. Yall called me crazy for comparing him to Steph, ofc he cannot be THE Curry, but shooting-wise, he have the highest possibility to be the guy who can get anything close to Steph’s level of shooting
Call me crazy, i still see a world where Sheppard can somehow go 1. Sarr is raw, Risacher is a bit raw, Sheppard, is the truly ready guy and my big board's #1
Nikola Topic:
From calling him absolutely overrated, to now actually slightly backing him, I might be the only guy here who actually had Topic rising from my 1st mock draft of this year to my last one (1st one i had him #13 to Pels)
Personally i see him as a perfect fit at Jazz, i just dont see how will he slip past Utah's #10. His unique frame, just feels so much like a Jazz player (Markannen), and what he brings is exactly what Utah need now, a playmaking PG. He does have the ceiling no doubt, the whole time i was just doubting on how will his game translate to NBA. If it translates he will be a great NBA player, and for rebuilding teams like Utah, definitely worth a risk!
Ron Holland:
Im just not a fan of him. What hes good at is only the athleticism, the physical tools, that allows him to be a high energy wing in the future. Others it rlly isnt there. His shooting isnt gd, doesnt show any mid range game, i just dont see any ceiling in him at all tbh
What backs him up to me is only is young success, great performance in international games. He is overrated, there is a strong case that he should be out the lottery
Matas Buzelis:
He does have a gd frame, gd ceiling, but what he showed in G League isnt too convincing tbh
The bad shooting efficiency is the main issue, its quite hard to convince teams to draft u high up when u have such efficiency in such frame. But for rebuilding teams its definitely worth a risk cus he rlly showed his all rounded offense, and how he truly can be projected as a scorer (unlike Holland)
He can go as high as 5 to Detroit, but i got Knecht for them considering how desperate they need to get some more wins. On a big board tho, he is lower
Stephon Castle:
Overrated, what he has is elite defending, one of the best perimeter defender, i’ll give him that. Playmaking its rlly very mid. I dont expect him being able to be a full time PG at all
Despite great performance shooting-wise in combine, I still have to remind you that he wasnt even shooting over 30% from 3 in college. There is still huge doubts on will he even be decent shooting in the league
Going #4 is very very crazy to me, although i had him 6 purely based on his defense, so its not far off. On a big board tho hes lower
Cody Williams:
I also rank him even lower in big boards, in fact, way lower. He is very overrated rn.
Defense is absolutely there for him, but the shooting, yes its around 40% but its on less than 2 attempts per game. People acting like hes a 3&D on high volume, not at all. Besides there rlly isnt any ceiling in him, only drives for layups, and occasionally shoot 3s. Hes only a 3&D, nothing more. More importantly, he is not Jalen Williams
Highest for him imo is 12, lowest at 12 too, hes not talented enough to be drafted even higher, but OKC probably wont let him slip like all the Mo Wagners and Franz Wagners. Its very likely that he will end up at Oklahoma
