Got another draft post it note for ya
Don't overthink Reed Sheppard
I have begun to interrogate the possibilities of the Rockets using their pick to draft Donovan Clingan, as opposed to drafting Reed, which has been a fairly stronger and more common consensus for me personally, as well as a handful of Rockets fans. There appears to be serious gas to the rumors that the team is considering Clingan and even guys like Buzelis, as well as trading the pick. But as we get more film from Reed's workouts, I just can't convince myself I want to do anything with the pick other than taking him. Forbes' Evan Sidery has reported that he's maintained his general draft stock, and doesn't seem to be sliding out of top 5 in any way. I believe it. Both as a draft scout and a Rockets fan, I really do think Reed has a legit game.
Devin Carter making noise
Devin Carter killed the combine and has continued to receive great press as he goes thru the pre-draft process. By the time we get to around the 8th or 9th pick in this draft, I could be convinced that virtually any prospect could be drafted at any range. That's one pattern of a weaker draft class. Not that Devin Carter is a weak prospect, but he could definitely benefit from the generally weaker class, and I could honestly see him being drafted around the late lottery.
Jury is out on Bobi KLintman and Pacome Dadiet... well, my personal jury, I guess
A while ago I wrote that I don't see a reason to draft either of these guys, and while I admit that was a really impulsive and extremely uninformed opinion, I still don't understand how there's a first-round fever swelling for them. I'm keeping an open mind as always, but I just don't have the best vision for either of them. I'll continue to keep an eye on them though, they're still truly deserving NBA prospects.
Thanks for the read!
