just a small post about some of the findings at the first day of Combine testing
Ace much closer to 6'8 than 6'10. this always looked like that. it's not the biggest swing attribute for him given how many other things people are quite critical of, but definitely something to note.
Jase Richardson just barely 6'1 in shoes. not great, but also wasn't going to be a strength of his to begin with.
Egor Demin is both the tallest PG and SG to ever measure at the combine. jumpshot looked okay in the star drill. for him the shot really is the swing quality.
guys who absolutely dominated in physical testing: Carter Bryant looked incredible thru the cones, just so fast and fluid. Rocco Zikarsky was seriously impressive for his height as well. Drake Powell had a heavy lead in vertical jump and other athletic qualities, which we kind of expected.
best shooter (of the top top guys) was easily, easily Tre Johnson. my word. he's un unreal scoring talent.
Dylan Harper's jumpshot in the 3-point star drill was a bit inconsistent, and definitely emphasized his weird load up point and how much he's using his hands. horizontal misses or the ball spinning around in the basket like a funnel is a result of too much hand movement causing sideways spin. VJ had a similar thing going on during his mid-range exercise, but for him it's more like the timing of his release- his jumpshot is all forearms. by the time he releases, his hands and wrists have to make up for the momentum he lost by not releasing earlier.
Hansen Yang has some of the largest hands in history, random but nice to know.
obviously Niederhauser putting on a show. looked amazing in scrimmage. will have to dig into him more. Ryan Nembhard played well. Lachlan Olbrich filled the stat sheet as well, a bit surprising given he's such a low-brow kind of prospect.
yeah, these are my main takeaways. what are yours?
