Jayden Quaintance
Because of prior injuries to his right knee in 2025, and an anticipated comeback with Kentucky that only yielded 4 games this past season, Quaintance has fallen out of most Mock Draft lotteries. I'm here to say that is an overreaction at best, franchise altering mistake at worst. Jayden Quaintance at the Combine was an incredible showcasing of defensive intangibles, mobility and versatility at the center position, and undeniable physical tools like a 9'1" standing reach for a 6'10" player with a 7'5" wingspan that moves like a SF in the rotation. Durability is something to weigh with every prospect, but this could pan to be the best frontcourt player in this entire class. If the Atlanta Hawks are smart enough to draft him at 8, they should waste no time hoping he'll be available at 23. He's a force on the defensive end every guard and slashing forward will have to account for on every possession Quaintance is there protecting the paint.
Meleek Thomas
This is an outstanding guard class as most probably know. It's only because of that fact that a prospect like Meleek Thomas could be available late in the first round. This is a two way combo guard that could develop into the likes of a Jrue Holiday or Dejounte Murray. Still raw for an NBA Point Guard, has to work on his overall offensive game most notably, but the potential is lottery worthy with an All NBA/All Defense ceiling. If the Timberwolves find themselves fortunate to draft him at 28, Thomas could be the biggest steal outside of the lottery.
Baba Miller
If Jayden Quaintance is my top most underrated prospect, Baba Miller is cut from the same cloth. Complete game wrecker defensively on par with Jonathan Isaac, just has to establish an offensive game that's as reliable as his defense.
Miles Byrd
Viewed as a project player that might slip undrafted if he's not picked up in the 45-60 pick range, Miles Byrd is a developmental piece that every championship team needs: Consistent shooting, active defense, competent passing, and comfortable ball handling. Byrd could be a complete 3 and D defender with his own niche as a playmaking spacer. Needs to work on his finishing at the rim as a scorer, but the ceiling is higher than a late 2nd projection would indicate.
Karter Knox
Think Keldon Johnson with better hustle and rebounding and that's Karter Knox. A great attacking forward on both ends of the floor, will push the pace whenever there's an opportunity, and can start the transition whether off-ball or on-ball defensively. Has to develop a dependable shot and versatile offensive game, but Karter Knox is a tone setter and physical presence that could grow into a reliable 6th man. Maybe even a starter in 2-3 years.
