Another post-it note, this time about the general shifting of the consensus big board, and what information we have on each team, as well as some trade scenarios
In the last week, things have gotten much, much crazier at the top of the draft order. In general, it seems like Donovan Clingan has grown significant steam as not just a conceptual #1 overall pick, but the actual pick that the Atlanta Hawks are interested in making. If that ends up being the case, I'd say there's a near 50/50 likelihood of them trading down a couple picks to do so, or just outright picking Clingan first overall (if he is, indeed, the pick they want to make.) Pretty crazy in my opinion. Clingan has definitely been considered by some as the #1 overall prospect in a broad sense, but it's so much different to imagine Atlanta taking him. Not to mention it would make the Wizards' pick even more interesting- could they potentially have their choice of Sarr and Risacher?
Continuing with next couple picks, we have some pretty interesting reports about Zaccharie Risacher and Tidjane Salaun. Concerning the former, I have seen legit sources say he's highly unlikely to fall past 2. Maybe not that controversial. But wait until you get this- for Salaun, I've read from more than a few beat writers that he might not fall past 8. Personally, I'm a big Salaun fan, but this is the first time we have substantial information on his range. He's been linked heavily to San Antonio's second (of their two) lottery picks. I could also maybe see Charlotte at 6 and the Blazers at 7.
Sidenote: there's a guy on here who kept making annoying comments on my mock drafts about Salaun not going that high, even after I told him to chill. If I end up being right I'm gonna unblock that dude and run parades around him lol.
The reports that the Rockets are shopping their 3rd overall pick are also gaining momentum, with not just Brooklyn as a potential suitor, but the Memphis Grizzlies as well, who are said to be ambitiously pursuing Clingan (hehe, I predicted that in many of my previous mocks). Clingan sure seems like the pendulum of all the possibilities that could unfold.
We also got some reports of early first round promises for guys like Devin Carter and DaRon Holmes II. It's really hard to speculate who those could be, but I imagine the Spurs, Kings, and Thunder might be candidates. Carter specifically might have been promised a top 10 opportunity. He really killed the combine. Holmes probably has a wider range of possible promises, tho. Maybe somewhere around the mid-late teens.
Uhhh... yeah. Think that's most of it for now. Thanks for reading.
