Easy negotiations:
Both parties the organization and the player have the same valuation of the player and agree on a deal very quickly: this is very rare.
Negotiation compromises:
The 2 parties hold out for a little bit to try and hold for their valuation but it gets to a point where they want to get a deal done as both sides want each other they get to a fairly simple compromise in the middle:
example Josh giddey.
The long negotiation:Player cashes in:
Both parties really try to hold out as long as they can to get to their valuation of the player but eventually they get to a compromise on the contract that really benefits both sides of the negotiation where the team might get an incentive but the player gets a good bag to cash in on.
An example of this is Johnathan Kuminga who gets the money he wants but the warriors get the team option if he doesn’t play well they can opt out and get their money then but Kuminga gets to cash in.
The long negotiation: qualifying offer:
This is where both sides have their valuation of the player and they are completely drastically different. The team then offers a compromise that they see they can stretch their valuation to and the player doesn’t accept it. Then the team keeps brining their offer further back down closer to they’re valuation over the holdout of the player and they then end up on the qualifying offer where the team is happy they don’t have to spy that much.
The player on the other hand accepts this one year deal so that in his eyes he can have a breakout year to prove he deserves that pay day. This is a very high risk high reward where that can happen but you can also play bad and get a worse deal then that middle deal the team offered you in the first place: good example is Quentin grimes. Bad example is cam Thomas.
Sign with another team:
Another team is willing to give the player what he wants but his old team say no way Jose and doesn’t want to take on money in a sign and trade.
Sign and trade to another team:
Same scenario as the other situation but the Tena thinks the players they get back are worth the money and or they can get draft picks from a team.
