What a heartbreaking loss for the Nuggets, because no one outside of Joker and Murrey stepped up even a little bit. Players can have bad games or even bad series but MPJ and KCP showed their limitations. Not being able to create off the bounce when the defense loads up on the Nuggets two stars killed the Nuggets. Nuggets and Blazers are small market teams that have a history of trading with each other so I don't see this as unlikely
For the Nuggets:
Jerami Grant knows how to play with Joker and slide into his natural position. (SF)
Losing a knockdown shooter in MPJ is a problem but Grant has been improving.
Improving their wing defensive abilities. MPJ was just a traffic cone out there on some closeouts
For the Blazers
The Blazers need to create more space for Henderson and DA to attack the paint. MPJ when on, shoots the 3 at a 50% clip.
MPJ is still only 25 years old compared to Grant's 30. MPJ fits closer to their timeline and if he improves with more offensive responsibility can be moved for additional pieces.
